报告人简介:

He is a Professor of Mathematics and Education at the University of Delaware, and a Fellow of American Educational Research Association. He serves as the Editor for the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education.  His research is well-funded, with nearly $7 million from various funding agencies, such as the USA National Science Foundation, Department of Education, and Spencer Foundation.  He has received several honors from China, including Ministry of Education’s  长江学者(Southwest University), 紫江学者(ECNU), and 特聘教授(BNU).

蔡金法博士是美国特拉华大学(the University of Delaware)数学系和教育学院教授,并担任美国教育研究协会(AREAFellow。他是《数学教育研究》(Journal for Research in Mathematics Education)杂志主编。他的研究资金充足,包括美国国家科学基金会、教育部和斯宾塞基金会在内的各种资助机构共捐赠了近700万美元。他已获得来自中国的多项荣誉,包括教育部长江学者(西南大学)、紫江学者(华东师范大学)和特聘教授(北京师范大学)。蔡金法教授也是华东师范大学亚洲数学教育中心首届学术委员会(2018-2021年)委员。

报告摘要:

This presentation is built on my experience of serving as the Editor of Journal for Research in Mathematics Education (JRME), and Editorial Board member of various journals such as American Educational Research Journal (AERJ).  In particular, I will discuss the following four issues: (1) Posing significant research questions; (2) Theoretical framing as justifying; (3) Choosing and justifying robust methods for educational research; and (4) So what - Justifying conclusions and interpretations of data.
